Viewer: Basic is a free component of IDA-STEP v4 providing core viewing functionality for all kinds of STEP files (.stp). This component alone makes IDA-STEP v4 a fully usable tool for viewing PDM, CAD and other data, available as STEP (internation standard ISO 10303) files. Double-click to open the local CAD file. Drag to change the position of the view. Zoom the view: Zoom in and out by clicking on the zoom button. Roll the mouse to zoom in and out of the view. Zoom Extents: zoom the view to the maximum extent. Zoom Window: zoom the selected view to the window. Download free STP Viewer 2.3. STP Viewer is a professional tool for viewing CAD models with excellent speed and quality.
Autodesk Step File Viewer
I want to do some very basic editing of STEP files, e.g.:
Stp Viewer For Mac
- Read in two or three STEP files, align the components with respect to two faces or two axes, and save
- Read in a STEP file, delete a few components, and save
- Read in a STEP file, select a component, copy it into a new file, and save
- Desired, but not necessary:
- Import a 2D .dwg and extrude an outline into an endplate or enclosure and save.
Can I do this without spending $$$$thousands? I've tried FreeCAD, but when I export STEP files I end up with ginormous files. For example if I read in this 2.6 MB STEP file, select it all and then Export it, the resulting file is 20.4 MB, even with 'export P-Curves' turned off (the suggested fix for this problem on the FreeCAD forum).
I need to do this sort of thing about a hundred times, so I'd rather learn how to fish than pay someone to do it, even if it's only a few $$ per instance.
I really do want to save/export in STEP format, because it's the lingua franca that all my customers request.
Thanks!

Description | STEP is a neutral file format that allows the transfer of files between different CAD software. The development of STEP started in 1984 as a successor of IGES, SET, and VDA-FS. STEP format (Standard for the Exchange of Product Data) is an ISO standard exchange format. It is used for representing three-dimensional data in a format that multiple programs can recognize. ISO standard number: 10303. |
Technical details | STEP formats can be used to exchange data between CAD, Computer-aided manufacturing, Computer-aided engineering, Product Data Management/EDM, and other CAx systems (Computer-aided technologies). STEP is the same as STE and STP. The disadvantage is that a STEP file is not editable, and the design tree of the model is not available either. |
